Film Board Minutes

Date:  September 23rd, 2003

Meeting Started at: 6:05 P.M.

Unexcused Absences:  Tamara Ojanen

Excused Absences:  Ryan Antkowiak, Pedro Lemmertz

Minutes: Passed

President:  Bekki has finalized the contract with Universal, the first movie that we show wit them will be Bruce Almighty.  This will be show for free during family weekend.  Also, Fisher 135 has a class and the movie can’t be previewed earlier then 8.

Vice President:  Greg would like to say thank you for keeping the sheet clean (most likely because there were no Saturday showings) and to try and keep it clean.

Secretary:  The membership list should be updated.  For the new members, if you can’t make it to a meeting, just send an email to jajeske@mtu.edu saying you can’t make it.  Our current member count is 35.

Treasurer:  For Finding Nemo, the one night we showed it, we made $1,174 in tickets, 587 sold, and $291.13 in concessions.  Our account balance is around $9,500.  If you have free time Wednesday night at 6:30, there is a USG meeting in the Red Metal Room in the MUB.  The more people we have out there, the better it looks.

Publicity:  There aren’t any table tents and posters just yet.  Adam should have them ready by Thursday, and if you are signed up to distribute them, just head down to the Student Organizations Office, in the MUB, to pick them up.

Equipment Supervisor:  Craig is still looking for a base for the popcorn machine.  He ordered some fold out tables to replace the big table we currently use.  The movie will be previewed Wednesday at 8, if the movie comes in.

Web page:  The web page is updated for City of Ghosts.  The member list is also updated.  It was suggested to put free all over for Bruce Almighty, just so people know.

Advertising:  Frank will send out the slide template again, if you got an ideas just put it on there and send it back, remember high contrast colors.

Concessions:  Since it only costs a few cents more per pound, Scott will start ordering the popcorn from the same place we get the candy.  This will guarantee us that we will have the popcorn in a couple days.

Advisor:  Nothing to report.

Old business:  None.

New business:  It appears Lara Croft will be out on DVD before we show it; it doesn’t seem to be a huge issue, so we’ll leave it where it’s at.  Travis Pierce was interviewed as a potential junior advisor.  There was a motion to accept Travis as a new advisor, the motion was seconded and passed.  Welcome to Filmboard Travis!  The person who distributes the table tents to McNair should also take a handful of posters to the Reslife Office so they can be distributed throughout the dorms.

Motion to adjourn, motioned passed.

Meeting Adjourned: 6:45 pm

Dutifully Submitted,

John Jeske
